Nike extends its legacy of Air on the new Air VaporMax, one of many shoes unveiled during the brand's 2016 Innovation Summit.

The shoe's outsole is a standalone unit that finally achieves all-Air cushioning. There's no midsole and no outsole, just Air. This advance in one of the brand's most cherished technologies means less weight on the shoe and more flexibility.

The upper is no slouch either, utilizing Flyknit to further shave weight and provide support.

Nike's not given any release information for this shoe yet. Preview the first couple of colorways below and watch for updates on this model here.

UPDATE 3/17: The Nike Air VaporMax will launch for Spring 2017.
