As a precursor to All-Star Saturday Night, we were given our yearly glimpse into the future yesterday as the NBA's top rookies and sophomores clashed in the 2014 Rising Stars Challenge.
The game was competitive from the jump, Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond setting the pace with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the first half. At the break, Grant Hill's team lead Chris Webber's squad 67-66.
In the second half, we saw a Rising Stars Challenge duel for the ages. Dion Waiters and Tim Hardaway Jr. went head-to-head in a game of one-upmanship that led to both young stars giving fans their money's worth. Hardaway scored 36 points on the night, while Waiters poured in 31, but it was Drummond who walked away with MVP honors. His 30 points and 25 rebounds helped Team Hill edge Hardaway and Team Webber 142-136.
