In addition to an all-new colorway and JumpDuck branding, you may have noticed something else on the latest Air Jordan 5 PE for the Oregon Ducks — enhanced personalization.
Making these shoes true PEs is the inclusion of player numbering within the Oregon 'O' on the tongue, as well as a custom name patch on the backside of the tongue. Below, you'll see pairs made for Dominic, Joseph Young and Arik Armstead.
Earlier this season, two Ducks were suspended for what was reported to be the selling of team-issued sneakers. The new personalized elements appear to be a direct reponse to the problem of limited edition gear being sold by players.
Will this new tactic work? It's a step in the right direction, but hardcore collectors won't be discouraged from trying to get their hands on pairs. Hopefully the players are smart enough to keep them close. Let us know what you think.
