A week ago, adidas Basketball officially launched the newest signature shoe for former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, the D Rose 4. The model features a high-gloss synthetic upper, seamlessly bonded SprintWeb, padded ankles, GeoFit construction, a compression-molded EVA midsole, SprintFrame support and a newly designed flex outsole.
Highlighting the design is a bold line at the ankle that essentially splits the shoe in two. The front represents D-Rose's calm, understated off-court demeanor, while the more intricate heel details are symbolic of his explosive style of play.
Pictured here is the adidas D Rose 4 pack that was seeded to friends, family and various members of the media. Included in the pack was a special box with an asymmetrical lid, a D Rose 4 Collection lookbook and a pair of D Rose 4 sneakers.
The buzz word often used for Derrick's products is "premium." Derrick firmly stands behind the idea of giving customers their money's worth. Upon seeing the shoe in person for the very first time, my initial thought was that visually, they were able to do just that.
I was admittedly skeptical about the D Rose 4 design when unfinished samples started leaking earlier this year. However, with the final product in-hand, I'm extremely impressed with the material selection, feel of the new glossy upper, details and the integration of the Crazyquick flex sole. This season, adidas Basketball decided to scale back on the price of the Rose sig from $160-$180 to a really fair $140. When you get your pair, you're going to feel like you own high-end basketball product at a 'just right' value.
