The Doernbecher Freestyle 10 collection unveiling continues today with a special Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski designed by Ross Hathaway. Hathaway is an avid skater, skier and Tae Kwon Do black belt, all at only eleven years of age. If that wasn't impressive enough, Ross has accomplished all of those feats while battling cystic fibrosis, a chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.
Now Ross will share his story with the world through his special Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski design, a model chosen because of his love for skate. “As a skater, I thought a lot about how it would look against the board,” he explained. The shoe's upper features dimensional pops of color inspired by the crystals in his rock collection, while palm trees around the logo reflect his love of tropical locations. A graphical pair of lungs appear beneath the translucent outsoles, while a digital rose appears on the insoles, giving a nod to 65 Roses (a name some kids call cystic fibrosis because it's easier to pronounce).
Take a look at Ross Hathaway's design below, and pick up your pair at Nike.com and select Nike retail locations on Saturday, November 9. All proceeds from the sale of the Doernbecher Freestyle 10 collection benefit the Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
