Before there was Nate Robinson in "Kryptonates," there was Spud Webb's historical 1986 Dunk Contest performance in the PONY City Wings. Laced up in a low-top version, Spud took on the role of David to teammate Dominique Wilkins' Goliath, clinching the title in the final round with a self-lob, reverse jam that even left Michael Jordan in amazement.
Twenty-seven years later, PONY returns to the scene, first serving up a reissue of the City Wings in three colorways next month.
Sporting a high cut, perforated ankle panels and a solid rubber sole, the City Wings will released in White/Black-Red and White Grey during the first week of August, with the Black/Red pair to follow on August 15. Retail is set at $80 each and you'll be able to pick them up at CNCPTS, 1973, West NYC, atmos, Wish, Rime, Packer, UBIQ and more.
