Last night, ABC's Nightline aired its anticipated report on Sneakerheads by ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell. To the chagrin of many within the community, the report focuses on Alex Asfar, a 15-year old collector who does big business re-selling sneakers at weekend trade shows. With a little help from DJ Clark Kent, Rovell explores the aftermarket boom and hand-to-hand business.

Feedback for the piece across social media plaforms was mixed to say the least. While re-selling is a very real and intriguing part of the sneaker business, it's only a fraction of the story. Of course, the more positive elements of the game continue to be ignored because they don't necesssarily make for a great story to those on the outside.
