Be Noticed: 10 Colorways That Still Stand Out

In an era where loud sneakers are the norm, there are still certain pairs that go above and beyond.

words // Zac Dubasik

A few weeks back, Kicks on Fire ran a piece about the days of simplistic and subtle sneakers being over. And while we think there are certainly some examples of the contrary, they bring up a great point about how popular sneakers have become for making a statement with bold color and design. Simply put, it’s a lot harder to have your sneakers stand out today, than it used to be.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some sneakers that go above and beyond in the “look at me” department. If you are looking to get comments on your kicks, even in the days of everyone wearing something to get noticed, check out this following list. And we're not just talking from fellow sneaker fans. These will draw comments from moms. Grandparents. Kids. Everyone.

Nike Elastico Superfly IC

If the bold, sock-like design of this indoor soccer shoe doesn’t stand out enough, the Hyper Punch color surely will.

Nike AF1 iD in Reflective Synthetic

When reflective synthetic was bought to NIKEiD as an option in 2012, that meant not only could your shoe be neon, it could glow on top of that.

adidas x Jeremy Scott JS Poodle

It’s hard to separate the design from the colorway on this Jeremy Scott collaboration, but even without the poodle head and sunglasses, this bright pink sneaker could get plenty of comments.

Missoni x Converse Auckland Racer

Bright isn’t the only option when it comes to standing out. Sometimes a print, like this iconic one by Missoni, will do the trick too.

GEL Noosa Tri 6

Prints, brightness, multiple colors: this ASICS runner uses every trick in the book, and all at once.

Roshe Run FB ‘Leopard’

The Roshe has proven an ideal canvas for all kinds of different prints and colors, from subtle, to the loud edition seen here utilizing not only a full leopard print, but a Volt Swoosh as well.

Nike LeBron 9 ‘Big Bang’

The Galaxy Foams might be the most coveted shoe from All Star 2012, but they won’t get you noticed the way the ‘Big Bang’ 9s will, which also came out that weekend.

Nike Air Max 95 ‘OG’

It may seem subtle by today’s standards, but the original Neon Green Air Max 95s not only were influential in bringing bright color to the sneaker world, the contrast still pops today.

Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Infrared 23’

If there was ever a shoe that pictures didn’t do justice, it may be the Infrared 23 Retro 6. You simply can’t miss it in person.

Nike Zoom Kobe 6 ‘Grinch’

The Grinch Kobe 6 may have launched for Christmas, but there isn’t a day to be found on the calendar where this all-Volt sneaker won’t draw comments from anyone you pass by.
