last Saturday was the Doernbecher auction over at Wieden & Kennedy and the SOLE men and I were there to help out and hopefully raise some money to save some lives. in addition to the awesome shoes that the kids and Nike designers created – which we’re totally rad - i crafted 6 wall pieces out of the materials from each shoe.
with each piece, i had one pair of shoes to work with. that’s it. no mistakes. no second chances. nothing. while i didn’t use every single piece, i tried to use as much of the shoe as possible as well as maintaining the integrity of the individual shapes themselves. the only thing i cut was a little off the sole so that they could lay flat enough for them to be glued down.
here are some images of the pieces i created for this year’s auction. unfortunately, these were shot before framing – fortunately, i actually could get some detailed shots before the glass and the glare… stay tuned for pics of what i created with the yeezy…

Man…. I really tried to win the Jordan VI artwork but I got smoked!
Great job on the artwork Vincent!!
hard to compete with the money that was being dished out that night… maybe i need to do a special sole collector piece!
wow, thats something really different. Very creative.
Sorry, forgot to add great post! Can’t wait to see your next post!
DOPE!!!! thats all I can say.
