With the help of European boutique Wood Wood, Nike Sportswear has created what has the potential to be another classic. The Nike LunarWood combines the classic ACG Wildwood trail runner, with the lightweight Lunar technology sole. Wood Wood describes the direction of the project with a short statement:
“Whereas the original Wildwood was designed mostly for the purpose of running in nature, this project is all about the city. Since we rarely go hiking in the mountains, we wanted to bring the shoe into an urban environment. The LunarWood is made for the cold and wet Scandinavian nights. Inspiration comes from the world of Graffiti and going on these nocturnal expeditions. All Conditions / All City.”
The colorway chosen could not be more appropriate, as it combines some classic elements that have become synonymous with Nike running silhouettes. The speckled midsole has been seen countless times on ACG silhouettes. While the combination of yellow and blue, on a black base is one that seems to be a natural pairing for this new creation.
Look for the LunarWood at Wood Wood and other select Nike retailers mid-December.
