A Streetwear East vs. West Pack?

In the world of sneaker collaborations, keeping your next project under wraps for as long as possible seems to be the way everyone does it. The exception being Vans, who always tends to go against the grain and just do their own thing. Doing your own thing is what skateboarding is all about, and Vans is the original skate shoe company. Besides, who is going to argue with over 40 years of success? Maybe they don’t always do their own thing, considering we have seen East vs. West creations repeatedly in the sneaker game. Bringing streetwear brands into the mix in the East vs. West series is a new twist though.

Vans has given us a peek into their Spring 2010 Collection. Within that collection we see two collaborations that instantly grab attention. Crooks & Castles, who have made memorable Vans in the past, and Acapulco Gold, another popular streetwear brand, who is working with Vans for the first time. While Crooks & Castles hails from the West coast’s sunny southern California, Acapulco Gold holds it down on the East Coast in New York.

Both companies took their shot at designing the Moda Hi silhouette from Vans. Crooks chose to go with a black Epi leather covered colorway, while the Acapulco Gold team decided that a white base with green accents was the way to go. Of course when you’re going head to head in any competition, you’ve gotta step your game up, and for this battle the quality of materials were raised to the highest degree. Being that these two companies come from the streetwear industry, Vans wasn’t going to limit their creative influence to just sneakers. A collection of shirts will be released as part of the pack as well.

Choose your winner of the East vs. West Pack now, and look for these at select Vans retailers sometime in the spring.
