Star Wars x adidas Originals 2010 Collection

Last month we previewed the adidas x Star Wars Collection, and today we have a look at the collection in its entirety. While the average sneakerhead who comes from the basketball or skateboarding roots may tend to let a collaboration like this slide by unnoticed, a collection like this has a reach much farther than the sneaker community. Collaborations on this level, although they may not seem to sit well next to your stack of basketball shoes, bring a much bigger fan base to our hobby.

For sneakerheads that are Star Wars fans, this is the best of both worlds. At the same time, it combines two of the most highly collected entities, which could make for some long lines (likely filled with mock lightsaber battles). Adidas has chosen to appeal to both sides of the epic battle between good and evil by using both sides of “The Force” as inspiration. With iconic silhouettes like the Micropacer and Superstar, depicting images and memories from the classic film series, the collection is sure to pull in Star Wars fans like the Death Star tractor beam pulls in space craft. While that pull may not make sneakerheads a fan of Star Wars, there are plenty of Star Wars fans who have spent time in the lines at Comic-Con waiting for an autograph from their favorite starlet that will make any sneaker release line seem like a walk in the park.

Naturally, if we’re not into Star Wars, we tend to think that we don’t need more people getting into sneakers because it’s difficult enough to get our hands on some of the releases. However, we might be overlooking the fact that for many companies in the industry nowadays, retros and collaborations are what generate the revenue for advancements in technology. So as you scroll through the Star Wars x adidas Originals Collection, keep in mind that it may seem like it’s from long ago, or a galaxy far, far away, though we can expect to see advancements ahead that will continue to further adidas going forward.

Look for the Star Wars x adidas Originals Collection to begin arriving at select adidas retailers early next year.
