Although there are a number of crazy silhouettes always being released, simple never goes out of style, and the Nike Zoom Toki seems to be the epitome of elementary when it comes to sneaker design. The bells and whistles have been removed, and the cost of those frills more appropriately applied to increasing material quality on this simple silhouette. With many materials and colorways already come and gone from retailers, a new colorway has arrived at New York’s 21 Mercer Nike location.
This time around the Zoom Toki comes in a tonal Obsidian colored upper. The material of choice is a premium suede, that sits atop a white vulcanized sole. A Vivid Pink pinstripe makes its way around the top of the sole. The simple colorway mimics the overall style of this chukka-like silhouette that was inspired by the Nike Air Sabaku, which lends the overall shape to the Toki, and Nike Blazer, which inspires its vulcanized sole and uniquely shaped Swoosh. At the price of $90 is this silhouette premium enough for the price?
