In the sneaker world, the trends come and go. Materials and color choices are the epitome of these trends. Sometimes they are gone after one or two releases, other times they linger for months, and on a rare occasion, they become a mainstay in the culture. The glow-in-the-dark trend is nothing new, but it has however taken to a whole new level in the past year or two. It seems every month we see new releases with some sort of glow-in-the-dark now. The latest glow-in-the-dark release is one that comes from New Balance and Atmos.

Atmos and New Balance have worked together many times, but their latest partnership will arrive December 19th. This time they chose the casual running silhouette, the M576 as the creative platform. Atmos has always pushed the envelope as far as colors and material choices go. This release is really no different in that aspect. Atmos chose one of those mainstay materials, elephant print, in a bright pink color to be placed around the heel cap, while mixing it up with a quilted pattern added into parts of the uppers. Lastly, they added glow-in-the-dark on the New Balance logo.

So is the glow-in-the-dark here to stay, or is Atmos just pushing a fad that’s waiting to fade?
