I would recommend the ZKIV or if you just don't like low tops get the Hyperdunk. Don't even think of buying the Hyperize! It sucks, no support and an injury prone shoe.
As for the possible Lunar foam durability issue that you might think of, don't worry. At your weight they won't die soon and the best thing is that you won't possibly notice a difference.

Nike Blue Chip II review

Most of you know me and my reviews, so I will spare you my details. I picked this shoe up from my brother-in-law, who is a high school coach, and they bought these for fall practices and the pre-district games.

The first thing I noticed out of the box is the upgrade in materials. Where last years models felt extremely Payless-synthetic, this year’s actually feels like leather. I am sure the cross-weave pattern stitched into the shoe had something to do with the feel, and it was noticeable from the start. The black colorway uses nubuck, or whatever Nike calls it these days, and again, just feels like a higher-end shoe than last year.

The next thing that helped in initial step-in and feel was the tongue wrap. While last year’s had the requisite elastic-sided tongue, this year’s model, while still holding the elastic, has increased the thickness and width, leading to a more wrapped in feeling. It held the shoe tighter on the foot, and therefore did not necessitate tightening the shoe to foot-numbing status to achieve perfect fit. As for fit, the toe-box has increased room on the new model. I had to go up a .5 size last year to accommodate my slightly wider than normal foot. This year I stayed true to size (10.5 in all Kobe’s, Lebron’s, and adidas) and the forefoot fit perfect. No pinky rubbing seams or numbness and no movement front to back or side to side. Ankle fit was great – a little thicker in the padding than last year, but the cut is lower and not as restrictive so it feels more free for quick movements. There is an Achilles pad that for the life of me I can not figure out why they added it, as it just got in the way when putting the shoe on and did contribute to a raw foot in the first three or four wearings (I always wear no-show socks).

Cushioning uses the same set-up as last year, but is improved on a bit. The heel Air unit is softer (or maybe it is the Phylon is a different density), and the forefoot is a little more responsive (the insole feels a little more beefed up. I don’t have my model from last year any more, so I can not compare). They still remind me of the Air Force Operate, which just used a Phylon/PU forefoot and Max Air, or the Max Chosen from the early 00’s. No jarring or body aches after three 2+ hour sessions, so it is great for me. Traction is, of course, Nike tried and true herringbone, and is greatness, although I play on an indoor, college Rec court, so it is easy to grip. There is no outrigger, but the fabric wraps around the forefoot hold your foot in place during hard cuts and sliding defense. One thing I love about this model (and last years; they both have the same outsole as well as cushioning setup): the forefoot flex grooves are deep and spaced, and really help a shoe with foam padding feel responsive and less stiff.

Overall, for a team shoe, this ranks as one of the good, if not almost great, ones. Of course, the white/black and black colorways have the changeable Swoosh inserts, so any team can match up. I do not, however, think it is worth the $90. Wait for a drop to around $60, and it is good to go.

Next up: My Weapon EVO’S!!!!!!

are they low to the ground?
and are they better for big men or guards..i've seen a lot of nba players, basically bigger guys, wearing them and not guards

They are pretty much average in every category, which for team shoes is waht they should be. They aren't low like Zoom BB, but they are closer than Air Max shoes. They are firm enough for big men, and I haven't felt any deadening or bottoming out anywhere yet (about 12 hours in them so far, so I shouldn't feel anything yet as far as dead). They are just a good team, any position shoe that the average ball player who doesn't care for $125 stickers or signatures can thoroughly enjoy playing in.

^ My LTs are supposed to be delivered tomorrow--after I get a few runs in I will post a review. You can find some stuff Nene 33 has to say about them in the Adidas thread...

Just posted up my EVO review...

http://bit.ly/1uc0wW

Not sure how many people have gotten a chance to play in them yet...but I really liked them! For $80, they're a pretty good deal. Real supportive and durable.

Anyone else gave them a run yet?

I had 'em for a while now, and I love 'em, it's a very close fitting(that's why you should get 'em tight, to get the maximum effect out of 'em), and quite soft shoe, it fits like a lace-up sock(very natural), the heel, and foot-bed, really connect with your feet(the instep height is medium, so flat-footed guys might have some trouble there), giving you stability, and support, and full control of the shoe, which is a good thing, because with the sole curving up around the sides, it gives you a very natural foot-strike, and the ability to find traction at every angle your bare-feet would have it too. The shoe is very balanced, so you can literally stay on the edge of the sole, without having to fight the shoe(normal shoes, will make you choose, roll-back, or roll-over).
Traction is very strong, and grippy, and like I said, you can maintain traction at all angles in these. The sole is very flexible(both front-2-back, and side-2-side), but doesn't over-flex.
The cushioning is quite firm at first, but loosens up quite a bit after a while, and it reacts brilliantly to the pressure you give it, in sprints it stays quite firm for stability, on hard landings, it becomes very soft(really very, very soft).

All in all, it's a very refined shoe, everything's working together, and adjusts to create the most natural-feeling, but still supportive shoe I seen in years.

For reference, I'm 6'06" and 245lbs, an athletic power-big that moves, and cuts a lot.

i second this opinion...im a bit shorter then you and weigh around the same and have 6 pairs of the iv's...not only because I love the look of them but because from what I have experienced their performance is unmatched...just ball hard and dont think about them being low, you will feel more free with them...also yes if you are not too thrilled about the idea of a low cut then definitely go with the hyperdunk and stay away from the hyperizers...i bought a pair and because I have very narrow feet I have to tie them extra tight...when i did that the construction of the shoe pushes your feet to the outside of the footbed so you will injure your knees and possibly more

here's a test...get the kobe iv and ball in them hard for about a week...then go and try the hyperdunks...once you switch to the hyperdunk, although it is a good shoe, you will realize how much more restricted you are and will then understand why so many people enjoy the "free" feelin of the iv

^ What kind of workout do you do?

Just simple weights and exercises?

Or more running/ dynamic movement based stuff?

I just use Lunar Racers for the gym. Mad comfy to kick around.

I mean like working on the weight machines, cardio machines, running, everything. I want to use a pair that I can just work out in a gym and go run in.

^^^ I was also looking for a good shoe to work out in. Can someone tell me which is the most comfortable, the jordan 23's, kobe IV or the lebron VII? Just looking for something to run in and exercise.
