Anyone else with any input on how the CDP XIV's perform in terms of durability and general performance? Thanks

A comparison to previous retros is fine too

Nick, Do you recall any performance differences between the Original and Retro Jordan Jumpman Pros?

big difference in jumpman pros from og to retro..no zoom air in the forefoot and no carbon fiber...shoe isnt bad but if you played in the original you will definitely feel the difference.

^Isn't it no heel Zoom. Also, and I'm pretty heavy, so it could be different if you're lighter, but the DHIP wore out really fast on me, leaving the shoe with horrible heel cushioning.

I beat my cdp 14s to death. If you are balling in them, you need ankle braces (for me). The zoom air is incredible, and the comfort is Thumbs Up . They are durable too.

I actually didn't buy any Retro Jumpman Pros. Go figure.

It's a top-5 favorite Jordan of mine, and I have the black/blue and black/red originals, but the added splits, non-translucent outsoles, cheap leather, only forefoot Zoom and cheapened TPU (and not carbon) midfoot shank plate made it an easy pass on principle alone. From what I heard, the Retro still performed pretty well....but I never gave them a run. I happened to REALLY like the Playoff XII-esque colorway, but couldn't ever find it cheaper than $90 and that wasn't a deep enough discount to justify the disappointing changes. The execution of the Jumpman Pro ranks up there amongst the biggest let-downs ever for me, right up there w/ the first time I played in the LeBron IVs (far too heavy) and the Kobe IIIs (traction was terrible).

It's kinda funny too...cause I always try and wear random older stuff that I really would like to see brought back around the people who make those decisions, like Zoom Gloves and Zoom GPs around the Sportswear guys, and I actually wore my black/red Jumpman Pros when we went to G's house for his XX3 Issue interview in the fall of '07. He kept asking me about 'em and I kept saying how much I liked the materials and components at that original price point...and sure enough when we headed back to the office on campus, they had some newly arrived Retro Jumpman Pro samples lying around. You could imagine me picking them apart and calling out the differences from the pair on my feet. It was as if I was picking apart the 2K4 and Total Package almost.

Anyways...reason I jumped in on this post was to let you guys know that Zac posted up a review of the Jordan Elements. Check it out HERE. I'm not sure how many of you guys played in them, as the price is a bit hard to justify perhaps, but I'd be interested to see what you guys thought of them.

I'm working all night on a Weapon EVO review and also a Hyperize review for the weekend.

From the sounds of it...there aren't too many early fans of the Hyperize from what I've been reading...and I'm right with you guys. They're just too sloppy through the midfoot and the collar isn't as assuring as the Hyperdunk's was w/ the hidden ghilley eyelet making a big difference. The traction is improved, but the overall fit and support is too loose for my liking. You can't have a shoe that light and then NOT have it be supportive -- then you're just playing in flimsy sneakers. I wore a size 13 like I normally do, but I'm thinking that a 12.5 might make a big difference in maybe tightening up the upper fit. Has anyone played in their true size and then sized down...with better results? I'm on the hunt for a 12.5 but haven't had much luck as it's a pretty odd size to find online.

^I'd take the kobe iv's since you don't drive a lot to the basket or get stuck between big guys thus less chances to land or get stepped on(sprain ankles). They are lighter more flexible and allow more movement around the ankles. You can pick the HD too but it's a bit restrictive on the upper compared to the kobe's. It's your call

hey goose, great blog.

i was so disappointed in the foam lites as well. I had the same problem with the sleeve constantly sliding down. I liked how you worded it though, how it wasn't painful or anything, just annoying haha.

After just a month of wear i decided to never wear it again. what a waste of money haha.

I kinda got 2 answers for you, the Kobe IV's will be great for lateral pressure on your knees, because a free ankle will ease pressure from your knees, so if you get them, plus some knee-pads, you'll have maximum knee-support.
If you're looking for more impact protection for your knees, and stability, and support for your feet, and ankles, I'd look at the bigger shoes, like the LeBron 5 (a better performer than The Six IMO), and you can still get some knee-pads/sleeves to keep your knees save.

Zoom Soldier III or Hyperdunk Supreme?

I really like the Zoom Soldier III purple colorway more, but I'm looking for the best performance.

Also, I am a Shooting guard.
