SC man gets 3 years in prison for sex with horse
| Quote: | A man caught having sex with a horse in a South Carolina stable has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Multiple media outlets report that Rodell Vereen was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to buggery. A judge also ordered Vereen to get counseling and stay away from the Lazy B stables when he's released.
Authorities charged Vereen after a woman set up a surveillance camera and caught him on tape having sex with her horse in July. Horse owner Barbara Kenley says she staked out the stable and caught Vereen sneaking into the barn days later, holding him at shotgun point until police arrived.
Kenley had seen Vereen before. He pleaded guilty last year to having sex with the same horse and was put on probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.

Missing Hayward Boy Found Safe
| Quote: | HAYWARD, Calif. -- A missing Hayward 8-year-old boy was found safe early Wednesday after he became disoriented and could not find his way home overnight, authorities said.
The boy, Adam Zepeda, went missing from Treeview Elementary School after getting into trouble at school earlier in the day, police said. When his mother went to pick him up from the campus, he could not be found.
Sometime after school, Adam met up with some of his classmates and played basketball with them until about 8:15 p.m. outside their home on Rivercrest Lane, about two miles from his home near the South Hayward BART station, Lt. Chris Orrey said.
He disappeared again afterward and the search for him continued overnight.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m., a teacher from Treeview Elementary spotted Adam walking in the neighborhood where he had played basketball, Orrey said.
His grandparents, who were out looking for him, spotted him at about the same time.
He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts but didn't appear to be cold, Orrey said. "He wasn't shivering, he seemed in good spirits," she said.
It still wasn't clear this morning whether Adam had wandered around all night, Orrey said. "We're still talking to him now so we're not entirely sure," she said.
She said it appears Adam avoided going home after school because he didn't want to face the consequences of the minor trouble he had gotten into on Tuesday. |

Three Teens Arrested In San Jose Halloween Attack
| Quote: | SAN JOSE, Calif -- Three juveniles were in custody Tuesday night in San Jose after being arrested for a vicious attack on two young boys out trick-or-treating on Halloween night, authorities said.
One boy who was shot is still in grave condition in the hospital.
Some business owners told KTVU the attack still has everyone on edge.
Lam Nguyen, the owner of PK Market on Story Road in East San Jose said it is scary coming to work now.
On Halloween night, Nguyen helped two boys who were attacked near his store. A 12-year-old boy was shot in the head and a 13-year-old boy was stabbed trying to help his friend, according to police
The attackers escaped.
"To me [I’m] kind of worried not only for myself -- my business -- and also for the community over here,” said Nguyen. “Everybody's worried about it."
Tuesday, San Jose police said they arrested all three people involved in the attack.
The suspects are juveniles: two 16-year olds and one 15-year-old. Police said all three are confirmed gang members.
Police did not reveal details or why they believe the attack was gang related.
At Mathson Middle School where the two victims are currently enrolled, the principal said grief counselors met all day with students.
"They wanted to know 'Are we safe?' And we had to tell the kids that it did not happen on school grounds or anywhere near the school grounds,” said Mathson School Principal Orlando Ramos. “That was first and foremost: 'Are we safe?’"
Some students were also angry because they said the two boys were not involved in gangs. They don't believe the attackers mistook the boys for gang members.
"They saw their faces before they did it and they actually stopped them before they did it,” said one friend of the victims, Francielis Lajara. “So they talked to them and they knew who it was."
Nguyen was just glad the arrests were made.
“It's a relief for the community and also for the businesses around here," said Nguyen.
San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed plans a community meeting about the attacks.
The 12-year-old gunshot victim remains hospitalized in grave condition; the 13-year old is now recovering at home |

Judge: Mich. man can sue store he robbed

A Michigan judge says a man who claims he was chased, shot and beaten by workers at a store he'd just robbed can sue the men. But only if he comes up with $10,000 within two weeks.
Scott T. Zielinski is serving an 8-year prison sentence after being convicted of unarmed robbery for the November 2007 heist at Nick's Party Stop in Clinton Township.
The 23-year-old filed a lawsuit against the store, its owner and three employees in April. Zielinski was shot twice and claims he was excessively beaten. |
Circuit Judge David Viviano ruled this week that although Zielinski is indigent and imprisoned, he must post a $10,000 bond to cover the store and employees' attorneys fees if he looses the case.
Zielinski is seeking $125,000.
Now, that is funny. Even if he "looses" the case. Nice play, judge.

No one is safe until officer's killer is caught, Seattle police say
| Quote: | CNN) -- As a reward for information rose to $85,000 Wednesday, the president of the police union in Seattle, Washington, said no one in the city is safe while the killer of an officer is on the loose.
"The citizens are outraged," Police Guild President Richard O'Neill said in an interview with CNN affiliate KIRO. "This does not happen in Seattle."
Law enforcement officials are vowing to catch whoever is responsible for fatally shooting Officer Timothy Brenton and injuring a student officer as they sat in a parked patrol car.
Brenton, 39, a field training officer, was reviewing details of a traffic stop with student officer Brit Sweeney Saturday night when a vehicle rolled up next to the squad car shortly after 10 p.m., authorities said
People inside the vehicle fired several shots into the squad car, killing Brenton and wounding Sweeney, according to police.
According to transcripts released Tuesday, Sweeney called in reporting "shots fired." She sobbed, then a few seconds later said, "My partner is dead."
A shot grazed Sweeney, tearing through her uniform and protective vest, Police Chief John Diaz said at a news conference Sunday. She fired at the attackers' vehicle, but police didn't know whether any of her bullets struck it, Assistant Chief Jim Pugel said.
Pugel called the attack an "assassination," but said there had not been a threat made against Brenton.
The attackers' car was a white, light blue or silver subcompact or compact vehicle, Pugel said.
Department spokesman Mark Jamieson said police are reviewing dashboard camera video from patrol cars that were nearby.
"We don't have a suspect's car [identified]. We have a general description of a car that was in the vicinity when this crime occurred," Jamieson said.
The shooting was the first intentional homicide of a city police officer since 1994, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels said.
Nickels described the shooting as "cold-blooded."
"We will not rest until the assailant is brought to justice," Nickels said at Sunday's news conference.
Crime Stoppers boosted its reward to $85,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in the case, Deputy Chief Nick Metz said.
Assistant Chief Pugel read a handwritten letter from Brenton's Family to CNN affiliate KING: "We know that Tim would be honored and humbled by the limitless support that has been provided at this difficult time. We sincerely thank you for the generous emotional support, thoughts, and prayers."
Brenton was married with two children, 11 and 8, Metz said.
"The family is obviously extremely devastated," Metz said. "The family, obviously at the beginning, when he left for work, certainly didn't anticipate that we were going to come knocking on their door."
Metz told KING, "For a lot of our officers, this is the first time they've had to deal with one of their own being killed in the line of duty like this."
Brenton served on the force for nine years, police said. His father and uncle are retired Seattle police officers.

^there was a backpack found somewhere and inside was an extensive list of officers name. The time they start, go on break, have lunch, and when they get off. They say the citizens are in danger cause they feel that if someone can just kill an officer then this person isn't going to hesitate to kill anyone.
