So I visited my local Converse outlet the other day in hopes of maybe finding one more special Wade for the collection, hopes that have diminished since last July with the move of Wade to Jordan Brand.

I came across this awfully familiar looking silhouette in one of the aisles, and I thought, "Hey that looks like the Wade 5!"
The man working at the outlet who I know came over and said to me, as I was searching the internet on my iPhone for confirmation, "You know, that was supposed to be the Wade 5."

But alas, no Wade symbols! These are beautiful sneakers that will never get the amount of appreciation they should have (or maybe the same judging the success of the Wade 4) that they should have without Wade's name.

I purchased them and spent about twenty minutes just examining the shoe for any sign of Wade left.

It seemed that all the little Wade symbols noted in the sample pictures above had been removed; the 3 on the lower tongue, the "Doubt Me" inside the tongue, and the Wade symbol on the back, but then I noticed this.

What looks fishy about this picture?

Now this may be a stretch, but with my "Wade Expertise" (trust me I'm not proud), I noticed this.

This may be just me imagining things that aren't there, but it looks a lot like the Wade 3 symbol.

Maybe this is the last sign of Wade on this shoe that could not be removed; maybe just a coincidence. Either way, you and I will never really know. Ironically, the name of this shoe is the "Converse Fadeaway."

Dope pickup Dan, that little "3" piece is pretty interesting. How hard will it be for you to obtain a pair with the Wade markings?

Awesome addition to your Wade collection though

Haha I have no connects or anything whatsoever so there's no chance of me ever owning a Wade one.

Thanks though

That Wade symbol shaped eyestay is definitely intentional. I'm no expert, nor do I have any solid proof, but I have to imagine that every aspect of the shoe is designed intentionally. There's just no way the designers coincidentally chose that exact shape without having the symbol in mind.

I'm glad to see that these at least made it to outlets. I wonder why they didn't even run them through retail. Personally, I think these look great.

There's no way in hell that's a coincidence. We've all read interviews and seen videos of designers that break down the sneaker and point out subtleties that only the designer and recipient can spot.I like how they freaked that "3" into the design.Great find.

performance design looks very sound. I'll be looking for a pair as well. And that 3 resemble the 'Wade 3' on the heel too much to be unintentional. Great find

Great pic of the details and it's definitely a 3/W. I really wish they would've exposed the fore-foot mid-sole on these, it would've really pulled the design together.
