This thread is for any questions you may have about denim so that the denim thread doesn't get cluttered.

Denim FAQ guide by anthonyoj.

Q: When should I soak/wash my jeans?
A: Whenever you feel it's necessary. People hold out longer to get more defined fades, but that's not for everyone.

Q: What's the difference between soaking and washing my jeans and what are the advantages?
A: People usually soak their denim in the bath tub to clean them but not get the agitation and movement of the washing machine. The washing machine is a more thorough cleaning than soaking.

Q: What kind of soap should I use when I soak/wash?
A: Regular laundry detergent can be used, but I recommend using Dr. Bronner's as it is the best soap out there in my opinion and comes in a wide variety of good scents that leave your denim feeling and smelling fresh. http://www.drbronner.com/

Q: How long should I soak for?
A: Soaking for anything longer than 40 minutes is not needed. After 40 minutes the denim has gone through all of the changes it's going to go through and is as clean as it's going to get if that's what you were soaking them for.

Q: How should I size on Nudie _____?
A: Take your true waist size and subtract one, this is the size you should get in Nudie jeans.

Q: How should I size on APC _____?
A: Take your true waist size and subtract two, this is the size you should get in APC jeans.

Q: Where can I see pics of different Nudie fits?

Q: Where can I get Nudie jeans online?

Just a quick size question/comparison: I wear a 30x32 in levis 510 (98% cotton, 2% elastane), and wanted to buy a pair of N&F black power stretch (95% cotton, 5% elastane). Should I buy a sz. 29 because there is a higher percent of elastane? or should i go for the size 30? As another reference, I bought a pair of N&F deep indigo raw jeans (100% cotton) in a size 29 a while back but they were too tight (i should have gotten a 30). I'm thinking that the 5% elastane in the power stretch will make a 29 the right size? any help?

What kind of cut is it?
If it's skinny I would go with 30. Weird Guys 29, and Slim 29.

Personally I would go with the 29, that stretch makes a big difference.
