How come when I do this it turns some part yellow? Also my dad said I shouldn't use it because the peroxide will eat the shoes away?

Not sure about using it and it turning some parts yellow...what shoes are you using it on?

No offense but your dad doesn't know what he's talking about. The peroxide won't "eat" the shoes away especially if you're only using 3-12% peroxide. I wouldn't let the entire shoe soak on peroxide or anything, but if you do it in a nice controlled manner like everyone else in this thread has been doing, you will be fine.

Update on my XI Jams:

Before (bottom one, only did 1 or 2 retrobright sessions):

As of right now:

The last 4 sea glow sessions have not changed the soles at all. It seems that this is the clearest they will get. I've mixed it up and done indoor and outdoor, and it just won't get any clearer.

I'm cleaning the bottom with soap and water, letting them dry, then applying sea glow, scrubbing it in very very good, then reapplying until its pretty wet. I let it sit for an hour or so until it dries up and start the process over again. I've also tried reapplying every 30 minutes so it can't dry up, and it still won't get any clearer.

At this point, I think I just have to accept where they are now.

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get the soles even clearer? The yellow that's left seems like its very deep seated and just won't change.

That looks way better IMO. I've been using retrobrite outdoor method, when possible, and I feel that my sole won't get any clearer as well. Yours does seem clearer then mines.

I'm going to keep trying for a few more sessions and if don't get any results than I may just stop until I can figure out what to do. Please let me know if you have any luck getting it clearer.

Do an internet search for ReptiGlo 10.0 UVB bulbs. Those are best. You can use either the long bulbs or the circular ones depending on what you personally prefer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the results compared to how they started when I bought them used. There is definitely a night and day difference. I'm just a perfectionist so I wanted to get them 100% icey like DS condition. I think if the soles are pretty yellow and they have quite a bit of wear, I don't think it's possible to get them 100% icey DS condition, and I can accept that unless someone can provide results otherwise.

If anyone has had very yellow soles and got them 100% icey DS condition, please chime in and show proof with pictures that you were able to get those results. Also share how you were able to get that final bit of yellowing out.

Thanks.

Using foil does cause more heat definitely. When I did put them outside, I made sure I had a cold water soaked paper towel over the carbon fiber plate to make sure that area of the sole didn't separate, as that is the first place it's going to start. Also, make sure you wipe around the edges of where the sole meets the midsole, because if sea glow gets under the sole, it will eat the glue away and you will have to reglue. The sole can separate and as long sea glow doesn't get to the glue, the sole can reglue itself if you press it down and the glue cools down.
