^ 30+ is too much.
Most of the scamming seems to be done via trade and fake Payapl emails.

If users were to follow every single guidelines except the 30+ feedback one, they would still be safe. Unfortunately, users usually ignore several of them.

We still have a big problem with Money Orders, but the majority of fraud is around trades. Since no one like using an escrow service, inevitably one user recieves first. That user then has a choice to either scam the guy or send the item. If the user is not reputable, they'll go with the former.

trades in my opinion are never good news, the only way i trade is on craigslist in person because i will never send my shoes first, but new naive members will i guess

It should be where you are able to post offers directly into the listing for all to see. Make it so that seller gets a pm/or email about the post. And have it so that the post do not count as a bump of the listing.
Also it would be nice if all transactions had to go to an admin for approval. If the admin sees that the trade is being done without Sneaker Exchange warn both parties that if one of them gets scammed there is nothing that can be done and suggest they use Sneaker Exchange. Or if Paypal is being used and the money is being sent as a gift, warn them of what can happen and if if they wish to continue let them. Just an are you sure type thing to deter people from being dumb. If they choose to proceed it's their fault they were scammed.

Having to check out every single transaction is a tremendous workload. I can tell you there are 1,600+ pending offers and many more accepted offers. Having a staff member have to check those out is unpractical and sometimes the offers are not completed despite the seller accepting the offer. It makes more sense to make sure everyone is aware of the rules and the risks by using the marketplace safety guide.

Just curious, is it easier for staff to review transactions now or before we had the new marketplace?

GuessWho?:

We never reviewed transactions in either, so that mechanism has never been in place. We don't browse transactions looking to baby users; we browse listings and make sure the rules are being followed.

No longer used in the new system. The account is still out there, however.

well that would be a good idea so when you see a guy with 0 feedback and exactly 50 posts selling you can warn the buyer before they go though with it so atleast they cant come back complaining about it

This was already brought up if you read through the last few pages, but we do not have the time nor resources to review every single transaction. Even if we did, our responsibility is not to baby users.

We will definitely help to prevent fraud by enforcing rules and providing a set of guidelines, but anything beyond that is on the user. We really don't feel sorry for the buyer when someone with 0 feedback and 50 posts turns out to be a scammer.
