This is taking credit from a sneakershop owner I spoke with who had LOTS of shoe knowledge. Coincidentally I was wearing my AJKO retros. He saw my kicks and asked me "Do you know what KO stands for?"
He says:
KO stands for "KnockOut"
Back in the 80's boxing was popularized and I'm guessing Jordan was a big fan of boxing. Nike decided to use that as inspiration to put a twist on his shoes: the 1's.
then he goes on to ask another question:
"what happens when you get KNOCKEDOUT in the ring?...
you hit the CANVAS"
ie. where the canvas is inspired from.

Hope this release was like the last KO releases, pickyourshoes sold them for retail two weeks early
I have 99 Black/ Cements sz 10.5 trying to get rid of for 150 hot me up
