why did you buy 21 pairs of iD's?

the logic is simple...

5 reasons I keep buying them

1. It's not permanent.
2. At least I'm not trying to be "Mr Me too".
3. AIr Max 1 is my favorite silhouette
4. It's my 1 of 1.
5. I enjoy coming up with a design of my own.

A star is a star. You can't try to compare it with the same logic.

people get tattoos for all kinds of reasons. and your ''1 of 1'' statement doesnt hold water. if you're referring to seeing the ''same'' kinds of images for tattoos is probably because tattoos have been around in the U.S. since the early teens. i seriously doubt that there has been a tattoo now that has'nt been done before. and why should any of us care the reasons why people get what they get. i'm covered and i'm sure plenty of people on here would just look at me and shake their head as to why i have what i have, and where i have it. this debate always gets me hot....there are two camps, people who get tattoos cuz they like the artwork, and the ones who want them to mean something. from my experience the people who have tattoos cuz they want them seem to look down on people like me who get it for artwork and collections sake......sorry for the rant, that's my two cents and who am i anyway, just an asshole with an opinion....

This has nothing to do with judging folks with tats. I said "What the f@ck is up with all these kids getting stars!!" I was saying that because its retarded to get a star. It's boring and unoriginal. Now, the conversation that had me state that was the fact that I liked that purpleheadedyogurtslinger was getting a Tattoo about something he liked with meaning. As opposed to getting something just because. <-I hear kids always talking about how they want a tattoo. Yet, they have no idea why they want it. All because they saw it on a friend or someone. <-That's just plain stupidity.

I don't have a problem with people and tattoos. I also understand the Collectors point of view. I have one on my leg that came from a artist I like. The piece has both meaning and it's also a piece of art I like. So for me, I killed two birds with one stone. I'm also planning on getting a few more this summer. Just read into what I said a bit more before you jump to conclusions.

sure i can...

for the most part people do what they want.

they want a star, they get a star. you want sneakers, you buy sneakers.

you can't tell me 100% of you buying 21 pairs of nike iD am1's is purely for you, and you alone...

you post them up here, you have a blog about them...part of it is showing off. same reason some people get tattoos.

just by you saying it's retarded to get a star, you're passing judgement with that statement. and why is it stupid that people see it on a friend and they want it? you dont need a reason, and maybe the reason is that a friends tattoo has made an idea ''pop'' in their head...i fight a losing battle with this. i see it in the shop everyday. people who in fact get pieces with meanings come across as more ''important'' i'm not saying that's you or anyone in here, but i've been chastised by my own clients as to why i have what i have and how stupid it is to get roses on the side of my neck

not only is the star boring and unoriginal, it's WAY to feminine to get a couple stars on ur arm...

as soon as i told my friends im getting a tattoo(which is next week) 3 of them jumped up and said i wanna get one too but they dont know what they want. one of them even said hes going research tonight for a tattoo haha. its like they're trying to measure up with me.. they're so fuckin stupid, they're making me feel superior to them lol.

bigj- i see where u are coming from, but me personally a tattoo with great artwork that has meaning is a HUGE win in my book. the meaning takes the artwork to new heights. this one kid has a tattoo under his belly button that reads "dont worry, ill pull out." that CAN'T be considered artwork...

They also do things because of their peers; I'm not dong an AM1 iD because of my peers. None of them own one.

Maybe if I was 18, it would seem like I was showing them off. Me posting them here and my blog are purely meant for the community. It's so they can see the outcome of color combos and the colors themselves. So, at the end of the day I dont have to post. But there's a big difference between having a passion for something and getting it/doing it, then just getting/doing it for no reason.
