How are the 8's? I've read many reviews and people just seem to rave about them. They look legit, but from what I see, they're a bit heavier. I'm a point guard, would this shoe work for me? How are they compared to Kobe 6's?
Go with the Kobe 6. Lebrons aren't a guard oriented sneaker. Maybe V3's but still on the heavy side id go with the kobe line if your a guard
The real answer is get both. Get multiple pairs of both. They are both great kicks and super comfy to wear for casual use too.

Some people can't get 10+ pairs a year. I would say if you play point and you want to get one of the Lebron 8's get a v2 or ps . When you have them on your feet you don't really notice how much they weigh.

I play the same position as you and prefer the Kobe VI because of the enhanced court feel. I did however play in my Yankee V2s last night just for the heck of it and I can say they are mad comfy. The sockliner gives it a springy feel. I didn't feel they were TOO heavy either.
