Tips on cleaning vans (brought to you by guam):
Hehe, funny you ask, cause a few of us have touched on the subject previously, but good luck trying to find anything in this thread. It doesn't even need to be sticky'd, it stays at the top of the Skateboarding forum! I'll brb, gonna go copy and paste the page that I shared my methods of cleaning these damn Vans!
...ok on page 722, I posted this:
"
JasonMarkk works great. It's kinda tricky with the suede, though. Don't get the suede wet, because the solution will just soak right into the suede. I use a toothbrush that I dab in water, and then shake off. Then I dip it in a small glass bowl that I put about a tablespoon amount of solution in, and then I start swirling around in a circular motion, until it foams. The foam acts sort of like scrubbing bubbles, and cleans up any suede nicely.
...for the sidewalls of the sole, I just use a microfiber towel, dry, that I dip into the solution with a finger underneath, and I rub it onto the sidewall. Wipe away with a dry portion of the rag, and you're set. JasonMarkk outperforms other cleaners on Vans sidewalls, which are THE WORST to keep clean, as you all know. Nothing works as good. Maybe Mr. Clean magic erasers, but you shred them to pieces almost instantly! Oh, and if you need to, use the toothbrush on the front toe portion of the sidewall, where a rag might not clean it as well.
...also on a sidenote of any shoe cleaning, I tend to stay away from any stitching, like on dunk midsoles, because anytime you get cleaner on them, they just soak up any dirt and shit, that your sneaker solution broke up. JasonMarkk claims to clean mesh and cloth materials well, but I haven't taken the time to try and scrub long enough, to lift out any dirt or discolored stitching, for fear that I'll just make it worse.
