Couldn't believe it when my friend told me AIM will be gone for good. Sucks. I remember back in the day when customizing your screenname or your buddy profile was the shizzz. I remember when I went all out with the color coding and all that, hahah.

I mostly use Skype and (occasionally) Windows Live. I like the idea that Facebook/Google hasn't usurped ALL of my online communications. I especially dislike Facebook chat, so my main chat methods are Skype and GChat. AIM was good though, I especially liked the fact that 1) it didn't require you to create a multi-use profile over a network (MSN, Google) that took a long time to set up, 2) AIM runs VERY smoothly, I have never encountered many bugs or service disruptions (I can't say the same for Skype and Windows Live), and 3) they made it very easy to share media and files.
Before Skype came around, AIM was BY FAR the easiest platform to send photos and large files to your friends, and it's still one of the best out there. Sometimes you just want to send photos to people without having to plaster it on Facebook, or send a file without hosting it on Dropbox.
Will put something here when it is appropriate to do so

As long as we can still use the program, I'm coo.
I don't really notice what the updates are anyway :lol
I stay using Adium tho.
OH NOES EVERYONE IS TEXTING!
yeah that's what happens when technology moves fast and companies dont follow the flow.
I remember the good ol'days.
Does anyone still use AIM? I haven't even logged on in like two years. I don't even think I could tell you what any of my screen names are anymore
But AIM was once the shit. I used AIM to talk to people I kinda knew, and only texted my real friends.
Even BEFORE AIM, AOL itself was pretty fun. I remember the Pokemon Progs fondly, and various other Progs I wasted my time on XD

Ever since Facebook created a messager, I've been using it more than aim. With pidgin, it's a lot easier than having to ask for my friends' SN
Facebook chat and Gmail chat is where its at.
The good ol' days of AOL chat rooms. 8-)
