I recently won a pair of Doernbecher 6's on ebay that were listed as worn once, and absolutely no flaws. Won for $470 shipped. However, this is what the seller told me in a message when asked about condition "these are not wearable, they are only for collectors. Possible sole separation due to age and being brittle. I don't think any doernbecher 6 is wearable. Like I said worn 1x and than put away. Some yellowing." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but these are only like 3 years old if that, are they really not wearable? I buy my kicks to wear on occasions, so I would break them out maybe once every 2 or 3 months. Am I making a mistake buying these? Can someone offer input on this situation before I pay for them? I'm not droppin $500 on a pair I cant wear.

I don't see how they can't be wearable after only one wear and stored

Here's the link to the auction, he can't send me anymore pics until later today.

The only reason I bid was because he has perfect feedback and he says absolutely no flaws.

For $500 ,the yellowing is pretty bad, I for 1 wouldn't pay $500 for them..

Im not sure why the seller would make it a point to state, "they're not wearable", I got mine a couple months after the release in DS condition, and there 100% wearable..

They're only 3 yrs old,, that's strange the seller claims them un-wearable, the seller might know something about the particular pair for sale that's not being disclosed..

Thats what I'm saying... why wouldn't it say not wearable in the decription. Never mentioned until I asked about exact condition. Then he got defensive like why didn't you ask before bidding... I'll pay $470 for them if they are wearable tho. They don't look that yellow to me, and honestly they are going to yellow no matter what so that doesn't matter to me. They are hard to find in general. Wish I woulda bought them 3 years ago, they were like only $300 after release. Now people want 6 and up for them.

It could be the cardboard that's giving the bad yellowing appearance,, I'd think they should be wearable ,but again why would the seller say other wise..

He sounds like he may be irritated that you're 2nd guessing buying them, after he ran the auction thru.. Hence the reason he claims they're not wearable, because he dont trust you're a stand up buyer.. So by stating they're un-wearable allows him to say all sales are final without repercussion..

Either way,,

Smells like fish ..

Its your money, but if it was mine, it'd be pass.......

Almost seems like either he wants to sell them to someone who will just stare at them for his own peace of mind, or that he really is too sensitive and thinks a 3 year old shoe is already brittle, which is absolutely crazy. People still break out OG's and are successfull.
