Here's a thought, maybe you guys can learn how to do those type of things or have a back up tech, so when one guy is not available, you have a spare.

No, maybe Steve should hire a backup.

But from what I'm reading, seems like most admins on this site never saw the new format coming. So Nikolas is Stuart even working this site anymore?

We did, once it was already created and it was time for testing. There was not a notice letting the majority of us know that a new site was even being worked on.

lol mj234eva i was on staff for some time as well and even wrote for the magazine once - lmao at whistle blower stop exposing the 'hangout' area.

i dont think the volunteer mod staff knew this back then, but us sneakerpimps had our OWN HANGOUT AREA! I think Joe struck us down and removed our hangout spot, thats when all the Euro OG Sneakerpimps dipped out (subfunktion +krew) so i blame you joe lol

As per Nike buying out Steve in 06, it was obvious with the niketown releases but thats not what i meant. i was referring to whether or not the 'magazine' collectively as a whole has been bought out by Nike and just wasn't rebranded. It seems the site redesign moved towards a php/sql/wordpress theme where content boxes are tagged and can be populated by secondary sources. A bunch of that cascaded down to the forums which is why we moved away from phpBB and carries a lot of the functionality as I would see it from a coding perspective. Then again, I don't do much web dev these days so I'm sure the technology has surpassed me since I haven't been keeping up.

Steve's probably a regional vp somewhere in the Nike umbrella, does any one on staff see any signs of life from him? lol if he's reading this he probably knows i'm trying to rile him up to post here.

Let me be clear here: the site was successful long before Sole Collector existed. In fact, it was due to the success of the site that Steve launched the magazine. There was never any money off the site, even when ads were added. I know that for a fact. The money that is spent on infrastructure to support this site far outpaces the pennies made from banners.

Now, the magazine may make money; I don't know the finances of that, nor do any of you. But they are not mutually exclusive. Steve can have a lucrative magazine and still have a great website. I think we're going to get back to that place, and not at the expense of anything else.

Regardless, I do like this discussion and want to continue hearing from you guys (whether negative or not).

hey guys, i havent been here in a while, but i think as far as the forum experience goes....what most older members miss is the simplicity, perhaps having the blog and forum as two seperate sites would have worked better, placing them under the same umbrella is what messed up the forum experience....back 4 years ago, the forum was easy to navigate making the experience more enjoyable, nowadays it looks neat and more interactive but also more complicated...just my 2 cents.

I agree with this, 4 years ago it was more fun & now it's more *neat*, I also like the idea of separating the blog with forums.

Any mods or admins reading this, What are the chances of things changing? On a scale of 1-10
