PLAYLIST: NDP's 25 Favorite Air Jordans

words // Nick DePaula

Certainly Jordan Brand celebrating its 25th anniversary last year is a milestone unlike anything I’ve ever seen in the footwear industry, and trying to narrow down the countless classics to a list of just 25 favorites is pretty damn tough. For what it’s worth, I’d throw the Black/ Varsity Royal Jumpman Pro on this list if I could, but since we’re sticking to signature models, I guess I still have a decent batch to choose from. I left off player exclusives, as I got to thinking about the Jordans that I actually enjoy wearing, which is certainly what it’s all about at the end of the day.

As you can see, I really like the Air Jordan I and XI. They’re some of the best shoes that have ever been created, from an aesthetics standpoint and for just general comfort. The XIV isn’t my favorite model by any means, but the Indiglo colorway represents perhaps my favorite colorblock that I’ve ever seen on a Jordan, as the sleekness and bright Indiglo hits have made it a favorite shoe of mine for over a decade.

I don’t own every model on this list, but you’ll see what I consider to be the most wearable and well-designed models that I’ve loved for quite some time, like the Military IV, Playoff XII, Stealth XXs and other great Jordans from throughout the historic series. They're also in no particular order whatsoever. And yes, I really do love the XV in all black for some reason, and as crazy as it sounds, I've never actually worn a pair of IIIs.
