In terms of their modern basketball product, adidas is known to release modified takedowns more than straight up retros. A key exception this past year was the return of the Crazy 8, which seems to have done really solid retail business for them. Perhaps the success of the Crazy 8 re-release has inspired them to dig into their recent basketball archive more often. This summer they're kinda bringing back Tracy McGrady's second signature shoe, the TMAC II, but with some very obvious tooling and logo modifications.
Known as the Return of the Mac, the shoe features the upper characteristics of the TMAC II with a significantly re-tooled outsole and the removal of the inner bootie and T-Mac's logos. Design specs and tech include a perforated synthetic build, TORSION system, adiPRENE cushioning and a non-marking rubber outsole. The Return of the Mac is set to hit select adidas retailers in multiple colorways this summer.
