PEAK MP1 Mickael Pietrus White Blue Black Home

words_Brandon Richard

The man known as "Air France" hasn't quite lived up to the bold nickname, but Mickael Pietrus been a solid role player since entering the league in 2003. The Frenchman has been a member of the contending Orlando Magic for 2 years now, often filling the team's "Sixth Man" role. Last season, Pietrus debuted a new signature sneaker in Orlando Magic colors. However, unlike the Air Jordan player exclusives and Nike shoes he wore at the beginning of his career, this pair was made by the Chinese Brand PEAK. The shoe known as the PEAK MP1 was created in home and away colorways, and we have a detailed look at the home pair for you today.

The home MP1 explores several possibilities in terms of textures and materials. White synthetic material acts as the base for the upper, with a snakeskin texture used for the toe and tongue. A black and bronze ribbed overlay covering the midfoot and lace panels sports a royal blue PEAK logo. Royal also hits the laces, PEAK branding on the tongue and Pietrus' logo on the lateral ankle. Perforations appear on a clear plastic external heel counter, which reveals a blue mesh underlay. Additional branding shows up in white on the heel and in black on the medial ankle. Plenty of design elements to this shoe, also the case with the recently seen PEAK MP2. Take a look at detailed images of the PEAK MP1 below.

Definitely an interesting design. It doesn't quite work for me though. It's close, but the element don't seem to flow together into a cohesive design.

That colorway looks like they thought Pietrus played for the Wizards, not the Magic.

It'll be interesting to see how long other companies wait to come over. I'm guessing Li-Ning is the guinea pig.
