Today, Nike has officially unveiled the next generation of their flagship performance basketball sneakers, the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 and Zoom Hyperdunk 2011. Both models are said to combine "unrivaled technical innovations and advantages," designed for the player looking for breathability, durability, stability and lightweight footwear.
The birth of Hyperfuse technology can be traced back to a trip to China by the Nike Basketball design team back in 2009. After observing what they call extreme wear-and-tear on blacktop basketball surfaces, Nike sought to create a breathable, stable and resilient basketball shoe. That shoe, which launched approximately a year ago, was the Zoom Hyperfuse. Hyperfuse construction bonds three separate materials into one composite layer using heat and pressure to create a level of precision unattainable via traditional cut-and-sew methods.
In a men's size 9, the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 weighs in at just 12.5 ounces. The shoe minimizes bulk, while maximizing breathability and comfort. Additional features like new mesh zones, a midsole wrap and a reinforced collar uphold Nike Basketball’s design mandate to maximize superior performance innovations.
