This spring, Japanese athletic apparel company Asics will launch a next generation running collection dubbed 33 by Asics. Inspired by the 33 joints in the foot that allow natural and efficient movement, 33 by Asics consists of lightweight, minimalist running shoes that also provide comfort, cushioning and flexibility. This first two styles from 33 by Asics, the GEL-Blur33 and Rush33 will be made available between April and June.
First up is the GEL-Blur33, a lightweight every day runner that is both functional and fashionable. The shoe is constructed with a highly breathable no-sew upper and ComforDry sockliner. Cushioning is provided through rearfoot GEL and a Solyte midsole. Aiding the ride below is a flexibile grooved sole. Weighing in at 9.88 ounces for men and 7.85 ounces for women, the GEL-Blur33 will retail for $85. Available in 5 different sets of colorways for men and women at Asics retailers in April.
The Rush33 is more of a low mileage runner that maintains a lot of the same principles. No-sew construction is employed once again, with support provided by an EVA midsole and flexible grooved outsole. This model tips the scale at 9.63 ounces for men and 7.83 ounces for women. Like the GEL-Blur33, the Rush33 will be available in 5 different colorways for men and women. Retail is $70 and you can expect to see them in stores sometime in June.
“We’re excited to introduce this new collection for the consumer looking for a lightweight, minimalist style,” says Brice Newton, Running Footwear Manager. “We have been encouraging natural foot movement with our Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.®) for years, and this is an opportunity to showcase out latest adaptation with 33 by ASICS.”
