The adidas Crazy 8 (formerly KB8) has always been a highly popular shoe, but experienced somewhat of a renaissance this year when seen on the feet of several players in the NCAA Basketball Tournament and Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. Though Kobe is now firmly established as a Nike athlete, adidas respected the heritage of the model by re-releasing it in two Laker colorways. That appears to be a trend they'll continue this holiday season, when it's being rumored that they'll release the Crazy 8 in the rare 1998 "All-Star" colorway.
Predominantly done in black leather with purple and gold Laker accents, this shoe is best known for being Kobe's sneaker of choice for the 1998 NBA All-Star Game. That game was highlighted by one of the very few head-to-head match-ups between Bulls-era Michael Jordan and a young Kobe. Kobe led the Western All-Stars with 18 points, while MJ grabbed MVP honors with 23 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds.
In addition to the "All-Stars," several other new looks are reportedly on the way as well. Seen below are pairs decked out in red, royal blue and grey. Each shoe features black trim and a white midsole.
The rumored release date for these new Crazy 8 colorways is sometime around November. Stick with Sole Collector for updates.
