"Makin' funky tracks with my man Michael Jackson..."
When most of us think about the "Bordeaux" Air Jordan VII, we instantly think of the two Michaels, on screen together creating more of the magic that made them the two most revered icons of the 90s. Of course, I'm speaking about Michael Jackson's "Jam" music video, which became an instant classic with a cameo appearance from Michael Jordan himself. In the video, the two legends square off in each others respective fields; Jackson does a little hooping, while Jordan takes some dance lessons from the King of Pop.
In the sneaker world, this on-screen match-up is remembered mostly because of the rare public appearance of the "Bordeauxs.". Though the shoe was worn by Michael in the 1992 NBA All-Star Game, it's most known for being his footwear selection for Jam. Most sneaker newcomers are introduced to the unorthodox colorway through the famous picture of the two facing off on set.
Since the initial release in 1992, the "Bordeauxs" have been one of the rare Air Jordans to not be re-released. That changes next week when the classic makes its way back to retail. Seen here are the official Jordan Brand images of the 2011 release, as well as confirmed release information.
