After months (years, even) of speculation, word officially came last month that the "Chicago" Air Jordan X would be making a return to retail in 2012. Worn by Michael Jordan when he made his triumphant return to the NBA in the spring of 1995, the "Chicago" X is one of the few classic Air Jordan colorways that has never been re-released. That, of course, will all change in January.
The lead shoe from the popular "City Series" features a white tumbled leather upper with black along the eyestay, tongue, collar and heel pull-tab. Black also works the midsole, while varsity red adds Chicago flavor on the inner liner and outsole. Lastly, if sample images are an indication of how the final release will look, the number "23" will be embroidered on the lateral ankle of the shoe, not seen on the original release and replacing the "45" stitched on MJ's Player Exclusive.
While a change is always possible, you can grab a pencil and mark down the 21st of January 2012 as the "Chicago" Air Jordan Retro 10 release date. Like other releases, these will be impacted by the Nike/Jordan price hike, resulting in a $160 retail sticker. Youth, pre-school, toddler and infant sizes will be available as well. If things change, we'll update you here at Sole Collector.
While you're waiting, take a trip down memory land and check out some photos of Michael Jordan wearing the Original "Chicago" Air Jordan X.
