During the spring of 2012, Reebok triumphantly jumped back in the hoops retro equation with a successful re-release of Allen Iverson's first signature shoe under the brand. With an aggressive campaign lead by Classics Brand Director Swizz Beatz and Iverson's involvement, the shoe generated a huge buzz, substantially larger than retro drops of the model in previous years. The "Pearlized Toe" version had only been released in Philadelphia prior to this release and the shoe was only available in limited quantities at R23 accounts this time around. Stores announced sellouts in mere minutes, which Reebok followed by announcing that the colorway was going back in the vault.
