This was the first Air Jordan retro that was labeled a "retro+". They did this to take an original pair of Air Jordan's and tweak it a bit. Weather that was a new colorway or use of different materials, the "retro+" line only lasted about two years before it was done with. This colorway of the Air Jordan IV is not an original, and was the first time it had been done. They were released in August of 1999 and featured Jumpman logos replacing the original Nike insignia as well as perforated holes in place of the mesh netting on the tongue and side panels. They were a general release and came in the original silver Jordan box, that was the first box made specifically for Jordan Brand. Packaged with this pair was a unique retro card featuring a timline of the Air Jordan line up to that date along with a little summary on the Air Jordan IV.
