2009 marked the first year of the "annual" Air Jordan models. In 2008, we said goodbye to the numbered Air Jordan signature shoes with the XX3, and in 2009 we said hello to the Air Jordan 2009. This was the first colorway released, and it was released at the end of January. It was a very limited release with only 2009 pairs made and released. The U.S. received 1005 pairs and the rest of the world received 2004. These were only available at the Top 23 Jordan Brand accounts in the U.S. and overseas as well as Jumpman23.com's exclusive "Flight Club" store. This colorway is known as the "S23" due to it be labeled as such. Retail on these was $230, like the "Premier" releases of the Air Jordan XX3 in 2008. These came in the all new Air Jordan 2009 box, and featured wooden shoe trees for an added touch of elegance.
