The Air Jordan XIV debuted originally on the feet of MJ during the 1998 NBA Finals. At that time no one knew what they were, that was until October 31st, Halloween. While MJ stepped away from the game for a second time, his famous sneaker line continued on. This was the first colorway released, and they are known as the "black toe's." They got this nickname from the toe are of this colorway being black. They were the only colorway of the XIV released in 1998, as all the other's released in '99. This colorway was retroed in 2006, and was one of the last XIV's released that year. The major difference between the retro's and the OG's is the fact that the retros have the perforated holes on the sides while the OG's did not.
