This was the third and final colorway of the Air Jordan VIII released. They Air Jordan VIII became the model that had the least pairs released, with only three. One less pair than the II's, back in 1987. This colorway is known as the "playoff's" due to MJ wearing them during his run towards his third consecutive NBA championship. They were also the last pair MJ wore in the NBA as he retired for the first time before he could wear his next signature shoe, the Jordan IX. This colorway was retroed first in 2003, but as a low top for the first time ever on the VIII. It was finally brought back in its true form in 2007, which makes some people now disregard the '03 low top as a retro of these.
