This original Air Jordan III colorway is known as the "True Blue's." It's nickname comes from the shoes colorway description. In 2001 they were first retroed, and in 2009 and 2011 they returned for the second and third time. This is the '01 edition. It was a general release and retailed for $100. They came with a unique retro card made specifically for all Air Jordan III Retro's released in 2001. What's really unique about this colorway is that although it is an OG, it was considered a "Retro+" when released even though it is not labeled that way. Reason for this is because it now features the "Jumpman" and "Jordan" insignia on it replacing all original "Nike Air" logos. This was done because Jordan Brand had done away with the Retro+ line and all retros going forward, both original and new colorways would feature Jordan Brand insignia on them only. This has caused an ongoing debate among sneakerheads for years, but at the end of the day people still buy them anyways. This was also the final Air Jordan III to be retroed in 2001.
